Usable field capacity of the effective root space (nFCs) (HAD)

The geometric basis of the maps 4.3 and 4.4 is the use-differentiated ground overview map, i.e. the result of a cross-section of the soil map of the Federal Republic of Germany 1: 1 000 000 (BÜK 1000; Hartwich et al. 1995) and a map of current land use (CORINE Land Cover, STATISTISCHES BUNDESAMT 1997), generalised to the target scale 1: 2 000 000. Usable field capacity nFCs and air capacity Trucks are related to the depth of the effective root space and for the characteristics the class classification was carried out individually per type of use, since the depth of the effective root space is defined according to soil hydrological requirements of the plants and assessed for agricultural and forestry sites according to separate algorithms or at forest sites an average of 20 % higher.
