Water structure (2001) (HAD)

With the waters structural mapping is the structure of streams and rivers (no trenches) and canals) and the state of their over-flood areas, the floodplains, recorded and evaluated. The mission statement for the assessment is based on the EC Water Framework Directive (WFD) potentially natural condition. It corresponds to the condition that would arise if the current uses and installations would be reversed (reference conditions). In the Federal Republic of Germany, in the period 1999-2001, the water structures were mapped on behalf of the National Working Group Water (LAWA). Comparable to the biological water quality chart (Atlas Table 7.9), which improves the oxygen balance in the last 35 years, the map “water structure” is now intended to emphasise the need to restore the typical water structures.
