Dataset description

The WebAtlasDE is an Internet map service developed jointly by the Federal Government and Länder and provided by the Federal Office for Cartography and Geodesy (BKG). On the basis of official geobase data, it provides an attractive, uniform map representation across Germany in zoom levels from the individual building to the overview of Germany. Its efficient implementation based on international standards and its modern cartographic design support a wide range of applications. Data bases for the WebAtlasDE are the basic landscape model, house coordinates and house surrounds from the land register of the federal states as well as the digital landscape models maintained at the BKG 1:250 000 and 1:1 000 000. Based on the above source data, a preprocessed raster tile archive (cache) is calculated. This is used as a basis for WebAtlasDE representation services. The here available metadata set describes this raster tile archive of the version in Pseudo Mercator greyscale representation.
