Organizational framework conditions:
The EC Bathing Water Directive (2006/7/EC of 15 February 2006) lays down requirements for monitoring and classification of bathing water quality, management of bathing water quality and public information on bathing water quality.
On 26 February 2008, the City of Hamburg adopted the “Regulation on the Quality and Management of Bathing Waters” in order to implement this EC Directive. This Regulation lays down, in particular, the quality criteria and limits which are regularly monitored during the bathing season.
The test results of the bathing waters are subject to reporting to the European Commission and are requested annually from there. The results of all bathing waters identified in the EU are published on the website of the European Environment Agency (EEA).
The monitoring results of the bathing waters designated in Hamburg are continuously published on the Internet during the bathing season.
