Dataset description

The Regional Planning Associations Southwest Saxony and Chemnitz-Erzgebirge were then dissolved on 1 August 2008. The Regional Planning Association Südsachsen was re-established as a public law body pursuant to Section 9(2), first sentence, of the SächsLPlG. The Regional Planning Association of South Saxony is the legal successor to the Regional Planning Associations South-West Saxony and Chemnitz-Erzgebirge.The Regional Planning Association of South Saxony includes the districts of Vogtlandkreis (formerly the district free city of Plauen, Altkreis Vogtlandkreis), Zwickau (formerly district free city Zwickau, Altkreise Chemnitzer Land and Zwickauer Land), Erzgebirgskreis (Altkreise Annaberg, Aue-Schwarzenberg, Mittlerer Erzgebirgskreis and Stollberg) and Central Saxony (Altkreise Döbeln, Freiberg and Mittweida) as well as the County Free City of Chemnitz have an area of 6 522.82 km².
