The development of the city-wide wind comfort map for the municipality of Bremen is based on the methodological standards defined in the criteria catalogue for the DGNB certification system for quarters in version 2016 (DGNB 2016), which are characterised by the explicit focus on the short-term speed in gusts relevant to wind comfort. The target is the quality of people living in urban areas. Thus, the entire urban area is divided into up to four wind comfort classes of A-D depending on the frequency of certain wind speeds over the course of the year. The legend shows suitable, moderately suitable and unsuitable uses for the respective wind comfort classes. For example, wind comfort class D represents urban areas that are unsuitable for certain uses such as parks, marketplaces or playgrounds.
For the entire city, the dissolution takes 10 m and for the sub-area 5 m.
