Wind power (potential)

Within the framework of the “Energieatlas Baden-Württemberg” the “Technical Wind Energy Potential” was determined nationwide for Baden-Württemberg. In order to calculate the wind potential, the areas within Baden-Württemberg were first determined on the basis of a catalogue of criteria, which are generally eligible for the extraction of wind energy. The intersection of the suitable areas with the wind-opened areas resulted in the potential areas divided into four suitability classes, for which the wind energy potential was calculated in a further step — after deduction of the necessary space areas around already existing wind turbines.
