WMS — Ground Map 1:400,000

The 1:400 000 scale soil overview map (BÜK400) presents different soil societies, each of which differs in terms of their soil typological characteristics, their soil substrates (soil starting rocks) and their relief position (morphology). The BÜK400 was used as a data base for the creation of soil atlases and geochemical maps. In addition, the BÜK400 is used as an overview map for regional and supraregional planning of a variety of types. It does not build on the larger-scale BÜK200 and BK50 maps, but is an independent map based on various geofactors due to the summary of similar or comparable soil societies. The BÜK400 was completely redesigned in 2017 according to KA5 (Soil Guide of the State Geological Services and the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Raw Materials, 5th edition, Hannover 2005) and is available digitally for download with legend and as an interactive map.
