Wuppertal ATOM Feed Air Measurement Stations (Passive Collector)

The ATOM Feed Download Service for Air Measuring Stations (Passive Collectors) in Wuppertal provides a dataset for download, which includes the location information on the 50 measuring stations in the Wuppertal city area (as of 05/2021), which since 2006 provide time averages for the concentration of nitrogen dioxide. The location coordinates were digitised with an accuracy of 1 meter based on aerial images (orthophotos). The passive collectors are tubes hung in protective housings filled with adsorber material, in which the nitrogen dioxide is enriched by natural diffusion over an exposure period of four weeks. The measured values (monthly values, annual averages) determined by laboratory technical analysis are published in separate files. They can be linked to the location data using the station number in the measurement point attribute. The location information also includes the indication of the nearest address (attributes STR_NAME and Hausnr), possibly with relative additional information such as “against” (additional info attribute), as well as the time interval in which the respective station was operated (attributes DATUM_VON and DATUM_BIS). The data set includes both the 30 stations currently in operation (as of 05/2021) and the 20 stations (as of 05/2021) whose operation has been discontinued in the meantime. The attribute DATUM_BIS is only used for the latter. If necessary, the data is updated in connection with the regular transfer of the measurement data (monthly with a delay of about four weeks due to the laboratory-technical evaluation of the passive collectors). However, the data that the download service accesses is updated on a regular basis. The data set provided is available in Shape, KML, and GeoJSON format under an open data license (CC BY 4.0).
