Definition of the term:
Refugees: Refugees currently undergoing asylum procedures
Homeless people: Refugees with a solidified residence status who cannot take up their own residence.
Refugees are asked to rent private housing. However, due to the tense housing market situation in Düsseldorf, the refugees do not find private apartments according to the rental benchmark. In addition, the refugees are not allowed to leave Düsseldorf due to the residence requirement (except for hardship cases only). They are housed by the city of Düsseldorf in collective accommodation or residential module complexes.
