City of Gelsenkirchen: North-South cycling routes

If you are travelling in Gelsenkirchen by bike from north to south or south to north, you have two alternatives to the ride on Kurt-Schumacher-Straße: A north-south bike route west and a north-south route east. The cycling links both have significant advantages in terms of quality compared to the journey via Kurt-Schumacher-Straße and are only insignificantly longer (route ‘East’) or lead only over very few signal-regulated intersections (Route’West’). The West route west of Kurt-Schumacher Road is about 12 kilometers long, the east route east 10 kilometers. For the most part, both routes run separately guided cycle paths or cycle or protective strips and are well signposted.
