*Short description The consumer price index represents the price evolution of goods and services of private consumption based on price index series. Inflation rates compared to the same period of the previous year or the previous month are also available. Sales prices, including VAT and other excise duties (e.g. mineral oil tax, tobacco tax) are levied on representatively selected goods and services. The survey programme also includes the exact description of the goods and other characteristics that determine the price. Reporting agencies are the providers of goods and services. The data is usually collected by local price investigators in selected reporting communities. In addition, there are analyses of catalogues, tariffs, fee regulations, laws and administrative regulations, internet offers and also (to a small extent) written surveys. Only country results are published. The quality report provides information on methods and definitions as well as the quality of the results of a statistics.
