The Office for Green Areas, Environment and Sustainability cares for all trees on urban areas. They are mainly located in parks and green areas, along roads and paths, on playgrounds and schoolyards, in children’s day facilities and, of course, in the forest. In total, around 100,000 individual trees are cared for by tree care. Almost half of them are digitally recorded and included in this dataset.
For some of the urban trees, this dataset contains information on: Geocoordinates of the tree and type of tree (in the data set is the Latin name of the tree group).
Please note that in the urban area there are also many trees on private land, or trees that are supposedly on public areas but are in other areas of competence (e.g. Strasses.NRW, Land NRW, Deutsche Bahn). Information on such non-urban trees is not included in this dataset.
Furthermore, the digital collection of urban trees outside the promenade ring has not yet been completed, which is why this dataset does not yet contain all the trees in the area outside the promenade ring.
The data reflect the following status:
— Inside the promenade ring: Status in 2020
— Outside the promenade ring: As of 2017, incomplete
