Definition:
The distribution of income and wealth is presented on the basis of the distribution of total net assets per capita and equivalised income by quintiles.
Total net assets per capita are obtained by dividing the total net assets of the household by the number of household members.
Equivalised income is a weighted per capita income per household member, which is calculated by dividing monthly net household income by the sum of the weights of persons living in the household.
In order to form the quintiles, all persons are sorted according to their total net assets per capita or equivalent income and are divided into five groups of equal size. The first quintile contains the 20 percent of those with the lowest, the fifth with the highest total net wealth per capita or equivalised income.
