Dataset description
The EU bird sanctuary “Lower Saxon Middle Elbe” is 34,028 hectares and covers almost two thirds of the area of the biosphere reserve (see text map 5). In relation to the delimitations of the biosphere reserve “Lower Saxony Elbtalaue”, 71 % are located in the district of Lüneburg and 29 % in the district of Lüchow-Dannenberg. 29 breeding birds and 41 migratory species determine the value of the area (NElbtBRG, Appendix 3).
