The indicator climate sensitive bird species shows the population development of bird species under the influence of climatic changes. The basis for recording the indicator is the nationally representative breeding bird data from the ecological area sample (ÖFS), the base year is 2006. 30 species that prefer relatively high average temperature values (above 13 °C) of areas are grouped together. These include, for example, the green woodpecker, the pirol or the stone cock. Another group is formed of 20 species that are more likely to occur in areas with cooler conditions (below 11 °C). Within this group, there are, for example, the winter gold chicken, the fir hare or the willow grain. In addition, a group of species with an average STI value is identified (e.g. cabbage, buckfink, antula and monk grass mosquito).
