The soil map of Schleswig-Holstein 1:25,000 represents the soil forms for about half of the country. Each area is assigned an area-dominant soil form. Accompanying floors are not listed. In addition to the soil types, the map contains information on the dominant substrate genesis, soil species stratification, soil exit rock and groundwater level as well as possible anthropogenic changes or peculiarities. The soils are described up to 2 m below terrain surface. The map is based on analogue single card sheets of the Mapwork Bodenkarte 1:25,000 from Schleswig-Holstein. This map work has been created over the course of more than 50 years of soil mapping in Schleswig-Holstein and has been developed in recent years into a digital, leaf-free map with a uniform legend. The legend is based on the Soil History Carving Instructions (Ad-hoc-AG Boden 2005). For the map there is an extensive profile database with usage-differentiated idealised guiding profiles, which allows the user to apply many introduced soil analysis methods (cf. method documentation Soil Science 2000 with updates 2012).
