The development of small-scale floor maps of the scales 1:200,000 to 1:5,000,000 is usually made from large- or medium-sized ground maps by summarising the ground units shown there. In order to ensure a comparable approach across the region, a uniform pedoregional structure is required. Seven stages of aggregation are described in the soil-based carting instructions (KA5). Version 2.0 of the BGL5000 already takes into account the introduction of an additional large soil landscape of the Baltic Sea and Bodden coasts. The map shown has legend units of the BGL1000 as the basis, which in turn was derived from the BÜK1000. The contours of the large soil landscapes were generalised for the scale of 1:5,000,000.
