List of institutions supported by the Federal Government

Under the Basic Law, the promotion of art and culture is primarily a matter for the Länder and municipalities in Germany. This list lists the cultural institutions sponsored by the Confederation with the links to their pages. The Federal Government promotes cultural institutions and projects if they are of national importance. These include national cultural institutions, foundations and museums, foreign academies, memorials and refurbishment of the Nazi rule of violence, memory of its victims, memorials and refurbishment of the SED dictatorship, remembrance of the German division, political memorials, museums and institutions of culture in Eastern Europe, institutions for the culture of national minorities, Deutsche Welle, institutions in the division of the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media: Stasi Documents Authority, Federal Archives, Federal Institute for Culture and History of Germans in Eastern Europe.
