Important note: The dataset is updated daily under OpenData NRW! With the amendment of the Landscape Act in 2007, the legal protection of avenues was introduced in North Rhine-Westphalia (Landschaftsgesetz NRW, § 47a, Schutz der Alleen). Accordingly, the Land Office for Nature, Environment and Consumer Protection (LANUV) manages a nationwide cadastre of legally protected avenues. According to paragraph 1 of the Act, the legally protected avenues are avenues located on public or private traffic areas and economic routes. The avenue cadastre is currently under construction of the legally protected avenues in North Rhine-Westphalia. The information on the avenues collected here was collected from a variety of data sources and presented in a geographical information system. All avenues are graphically located and described via factual information such as length, planting period, tree species composition or protection status.
