Map layer nature reserves NRW

The map layer of nature reserves can be selected in the Web Map Service Landscape Information Collection (WMS LINFOS) and shows the spatial location of the nature reserves in North Rhine-Westphalia. According to Paragraph 23(1) of the BNatSchG, Nature Reserves (NSG) are ‘legally binding areas where special protection of nature and landscape in their entirety or parts (1) is necessary for the conservation, development or restoration of biotopes or communities of certain wild fauna and flora, (2) for scientific, natural history or land-based reasons, or (3) because of their rarity, special peculiarities or excellent beauty’. From a spatial point of view, nature conservation is a priority in these areas. In addition to the national parks, they form significant areas for the conservation of biodiversity in Germany.
