Münster Contributions to the Federal President’s History Competition since 1973

No other city has participated in the history competition of the Federal President since 1973 as in Münster. Over the last 50 years, around 1,700 works have been created, which have also rediscovered historical themes for the city’s history. Together with the Stadtarchiv Münster, the Institute for Didactics of History at the University of Münster recorded these research contributions in the database “DABEI!”. This unique database offers a wide range of uses: It provides an overview of the topics, questions and procedures of all student contributions collected in the city archive. However, it also recognises this research as an important part of the historical culture in Münster. And last but not least, it is a research instrument — whether for local history, historical culture or history didactics. This data set contains the database “DABEI war!” in the form of a tabular overview of all contributions from Münster to the history betting of the Federal President from 1973 to 2020.
