Palynological studies on a drill profile in northeastern North Rhine-Westphalia — The layers of the deep lower chalk (Berriasium, 145-39, 8 million y.o.) were formed in northwestern Germany in a special brackish milieu and rich in organic matter (wealden facies). They are thus potential carriers of hydrocarbons. The core hole 1/08 Husen of GD NRW opened up an 88 m thick sequence of these sediments. They were studied palyno- and microfatively as well as geochemically in order to reconstruct their deposition conditions and to provide an assessment of the hydrocarbon potential. The results allow an interpretation of the ecology at that time and allow the reconstruction of trans- and regression trends. It turns out that palynofazies analysis can be used for sequence stratigraphic analysis. In addition, it is possible to study a change in the law/create border area.
