Dataset description

The data set contains data on the number of people with a migrant background in Düsseldorf at the level of social spaces. Unless otherwise stated, the data refer to 31.12.2016. The complete update of the Social Spatial Structure is available as PDF on the pages of the Office for Statistics and Elections. The “Social Spatial Structure” divides the entire city of Düsseldorf into 179 smaller spatial units, whose cut depends on both socio-demographic and residential characteristics. Social spaces thus represent more people’s immediate living environment than is the case with administrative units such as the 50 districts. In general, the term social space can be used synonymous with quarters or habitats. Within the city administration, this instrument is used as a basis for reference and planning by almost all specialised offices and departments, which focus on social structures in the district. In addition, this room level is suitable for analytical purposes of various questions. In a separate dataset you can find geoinformation on the social space borders of Düsseldorf. The files with total numbers contain the following column information: Persons with a migrant background as a whole: Total number of people with a migrant background Persons with a migrant background under 18 years of age: Number of people with a migrant background younger than 18 years of age Persons with a migrant background aged 65 and over: Number of people with a migrant background older than 65 years of age Total foreigners: Total number of foreign persons Foreigners under 18 years of age: Number of foreign persons under 18 years of age Foreigners aged 65 and over: Number of foreign persons older than 65 years of age Germans with a migration background as a whole: Total number of Germans with a migration background Germans with a migrant background under 18 years of age: Number of Germans with a migrant background who are under 18 years of age German with a migration background aged 65 and over: Number of Germans with a migrant background older than 65 years of age The files “Social Spatial Structure Population Data Migration Background” contain the following column information: City district: Number of districts Social space: Number of the social space all data listed as categories above at social space level Notes: The file with the total numbers can show in individual columns higher values than the sum in the file with the numbers for each social space would be. This is explained by the fact that when listing social space figures, some fields are not filled for data protection reasons. Possible deviations of the data presented from other publications are either methodological or are based on different deadline regulations. For procedural reasons, the population reference figures for the MigraPro procedure differ slightly from those of the Resident Registration Register. In general, no consideration for the final sum has been rounded up or rounded. For this reason, when summing individual data, the final sums may be above or below 100 %. x = an indication of a number cannot be considered for technical reasons or does not make sense. The social room 0718, for example, includes the site of the former glassworks in Gerresheim. A new residential area is currently being built here. . = Numerical value is unknown or cannot be specified for certain reasons, e.g. for technical reasons or for reasons of confidentiality — = numerical value is exactly zero (nothing exists) Note: Population reference figures from the MigraPro process differ slightly from those of the EWO for procedural reasons.
