As part of the Open Data Initiative of the City of Münster, the Office for Schools and Continuing Education of the City of Münster provides on this page the school statistics in machine-readable tables for download.
These are data from the urban and episcopal schools in Münster since the school year 2010/2011.
The open data publication takes place in addition to the school statistics in PDF format, which are provided on the homepage of the Office for Schools and Continuing Education:
https://www.stadt-muenster.de/schulamt/service/statistiken-und-berichte
In the school statistics in PDF format you will find more information about the data: Descriptions of school types, city maps, diagrams, footnotes (partly referenced in the Excel files) as well as further explanations.
The Excel files contain the following abbreviations:

General information about the data
The data describe the school situation with regard to the number of pupils and the number of classes in relation to the entire city of Münster, districts, districts, as well as to individual schools.
The official school data is transmitted electronically by the Münster schools directly to the Landesbetrieb Information und Technik Nordrhein-Westfalen (IT.NRW) in Düsseldorf, where they are collected and summarised. On the 15th of October, official school data will be collected annually. The Office for Schools and Continuing Education evaluates the data provided by the schools and publishes a summary of the student data in the form of school statistics.
The data are the basis for e.g. school development planning, the pupil forecast, the calculation of staffing at the schools and the financial resources of the schools.
Information on data protection
Since the school year (2021/2022), a rounding procedure has been used in some places for data protection reasons:
Due to legal provisions, personal data must be kept confidential. In order to continue to provide the most comprehensive information, the number of cases is not shown in tables where conclusions could be drawn on individuals. If, nevertheless, conclusions can be drawn by reckoning, a rounding process will be used. All original case numbers and sums are rounded up to a multiple of 3 up or down. By applying this rounding process, it is possible that the total rounded amount does not correspond to the sum of the rounded individual values. Reference is made to the procedure used on the relevant pages.
