The dataset contains data from the Eulerstraße phenological garden.
On 7 May 2008, the Düsseldorf-City weather station and the Phenological Garden on Eulerstraße were officially handed over to their destination. The ensemble created and built on the grounds of the Children’s Aid Centre in the district of Pempelfort, the city’s Environmental Agency. The aim is to monitor changes caused by global climate change in the long term. During their sometimes daily tours, colleagues from the Children’s Aid Centre note developmental stages of plants, such as the date of budding, flowering or fruit ripening. With the help of the weather data collected in parallel at the station, conclusions on longer-term climate changes are possible.
The weather data is processed directly by the German weather service and cannot be published as open data.
The plants are widely used species, some of which have been scientifically observed for more than 100 years, such as besenheide, forsythia, snowdrops and various fruit trees. Phenological records of cherry blossom in Japan even date back to 705.
