The precise knowledge of the soil and substrate properties as well as the hydrological conditions at one site allows an optimised dimensioning of geothermal heat collector systems. An important parameter is the thermal conductivity in W/(m*K), which significantly reflects the geothermal potential. The thermal conductivity of a soil depends on the geological base substrate and the hydrological conditions, such as groundwater close to surface. The average thermal conductivity values expected at one location up to 2 m depth are to be taken from the geothermal potential map — soil thermal conductivity. The range of values ranges from very low potential (< 1) to high potential (> 1.8-2.0). The data set provides a basis for large-scale considerations and does not replace the conduct of detailed investigations.
