The map shows the specific thermal conductivity of the rocks in the subsurface up to 40 m depth. It is classified in 17 levels of yield, from <= 1 W/(m*K) to > 4 W/(m*K). The classification is based on the mean specific thermal conductivity of the rocks found in the subsurface in [W/(m*K)] to 40 m depth. The basis for the calculation of the geothermal yield is representative drilling from the Bavarian Soil Information System (BIS). Based on the lithological description of the holes, such as sand, limestone or granite, and the groundwater conditions (dry/saturated), measured thermal conductivity is assigned to the individual layers up to 100 m depth. Below, an average value for the respective depth level is given and interpolated. The data set provides a basis for large-scale considerations and does not replace the conduct of detailed investigations.
