Transport of German trucks (VD) — Annual freight transport (VD4)

The VD4 table collection represents the freight transport of German goods vehicles (trucks over 3.5 tonnes of payload and semi-trailer tractors) on the volume of goods, as well as on regional dispatch and reception, and is part of the annual performance statistics. The number of journeys, distance travelled, weight of goods, transport performance and utilisation rate are shown in the material breakdown by type of goods. The classification of the goods is carried out according to the 20 NST 2007 divisions as well as the combined items and the hazardous goods by hazardous goods classes. The annual volume of goods is presented in detail for each federal state (country of registration of the motor vehicle) as well as for total transport, inland transport, international transport, commercial transport, own-account transport and distance. For regional freight shipments and receipts, freight weight and transport performance are shown in the material breakdown by type of goods (NST 2007 headings). The spatial layout of the loading and unloading places takes place within Germany at the level of the administrative districts of the Länder and outside of the EU nationality (EU state, third country). The annual shipment and reception of goods is presented in detail for total transport, commercial transport and own account transport. In addition, basic monthly data are reported according to aggregated items of goods. Data collection for road haulage statistics is carried out as a sample survey in accordance with the National Transport Statistics Act (VerkStatG) and European Regulation (EU) 70/2012.
