Transport of German trucks (VDs) — annual domestic traffic (VD3)

The table collection VD3 presents the traffic volume (load and empty journeys) of German goods vehicles (trucks over 3.5 t payload and tractor units) in Germany and is part of the annual performance statistics. The number of journeys, distance travelled, freight weight, transport performance and utilisation rate are shown. The material breakdown is carried out according to vehicle, driving and load-related characteristics and includes maximum permissible mass, payload, vehicle and body type, emission class, holder groups, year of initial registration, number of axles, engine power, main traffic relationship, distance level, type of journey, container size and combination, form of cargo, cargo division and dangerous goods class. The spatial breakdown is carried out by federal state (country of registration of the motor vehicle). The annual traffic volume on German territory is shown in detail for total transport, inland transport (near, regional and long-distance), international transport, commercial transport and in-house transport. Monthly key data on load and empty journeys are additionally shown. Data collection for road haulage statistics is carried out as a sample survey in accordance with the National Transport Statistics Act (VerkStatG) and European Regulation (EU) 70/2012.
