Smartphone sensor data for (partial) automated classification of pre-determined road conditions of cycle paths in selected parts of the city of Stuttgart.
Within the Android app Physics Toolboy Sensor Suite, the following data were recorded at a frequency of 20 Hz:
— Acceleration force x,y,z (g-force)
— Linear acceleration x,y,z (linear acceleration)
— Rotational velocity x,y,z (rotational velocity)
— Angle measurement pitch, roll, azimuth
— Geoposition (latitude, longitude)
— Timestamp
Investigative sites:
Campus Vaihingen, University of Stuttgart: Repeated navigation of selected sections of the route to generate a database.
Hospitalviertel, Stuttgart city center: One-time driving along a predetermined route for the holistic reception of all road sections that can be accessed by cycling.
The following features were recorded:
— Drive asphalt
— Driving cobblestones
— Drive curbstone
— Drive canal lid or pothole
— Drive brake threshold
— Hold
The raw data is based on a methodology for (partial) automated classification. Since both data and methodology are freely available, they can be further enriched and used. Detailed documentation can be found at https://github.com/JohnPravin97/SmartRadL.
