Definition:
The asset wealth threshold is the value above which wealth is to be called wealth.
The wealth threshold is drawn at 200 % of the arithmetic average of total net assets per capita of the North Rhine-Westphalian population. In order to determine the total net assets per capita, the total net assets of the household are divided by the number of members of the household.
Note:
In the income and consumption sample, wealthy and income-rich people are underrepresented, as households with a monthly net household income of EUR 18,000 or more are not included in the sample. Thus, the wealthy are considered rather than top earners or wealthy. This restriction must be accepted because the sample of income and consumption is the only available source of data that can be used to carry out country-level analyses on the link between income wealth and wealth.
