The data set contains the average difference in weekly working hours normally worked in mixed-sex parents with at least one child under three years of age living in the common household. The indicator is based on a self-report by the workers surveyed about the hours normally worked per week, including regular additional hours and standby times. Full hours can be specified. The average is determined only on the basis of mixed-sex parents, since only in this way a difference between the sexes can be calculated. It is based on the concept of realised employment. Only persons in employment who do not interrupt their activity on the basis of reconciliation arrangements between family and work (parent protection or parental leave) are considered to be employed. This makes it easier to show how the genders differ in terms of the interruption of work due to the reconciliation of family and work.
