This dataset makes the link between postal codes and addresses.
<!--- EXCERPT -->
It is [built](https://github.com/etalab/codes-postaux) from the [Official Geographical Code](https://www.data.gouv.fr/fr/datasets/58c984b088ee386cdb1261f3/) of INSEE and the [FIMOCT](https://www.data.gouv.fr/fr/datasets/5a3cc6b588ee3858d95178fc/) of DGFiP.
### Different types of links
A postal code may be associated with several municipalities (e.g. 54490 is shared by 7 municipalities), and one municipality may have several postal codes (e.g. Metz has 3 different postal codes).
Where a municipality has more than one postal code, the dataset lists all the routes covered by each postal code, and possibly the parity of the numbers and the sections. This level of detail is only present in the ‘full’ file (experimental).
### Update of the Official Geographical Code
The Official Geographical Code is updated annually in April. As this dataset is built with the latest version available, it is possible that the newest municipalities are not yet in it.
Current edition of the GOC: **2019**

### Differences with La Poste dataset
* This dataset (for its ‘full’ version) contains __the list of lanes and sections of lanes concerned by a postal code__ where a municipality has multiple postal codes. This information does not exist in the [La Poste dataset](https://www.data.gouv.fr/fr/datasets/545b55e1c751df52de9b6045/).
