Demographic movement, as of December 31 of each year, from 1931 to 2013 complete with birth rates, mortality rates and data related to General Censuses. Speaking of Censuses, it is good to trace a brief history of them. The first General Census of the Population in Italy dates back to 1861, the year of the unification of the country in the Kingdom of Italy and the Italians surveyed were 26 million and three hundred thousand. From 1861 to 2011, the census part-sessions followed every 10 years with the exceptions of 1891, due to financial difficulties in the country and 1941 due to the 2nd World War. Another exception is the Census of 1936, carried out only 5 years after the previous one following a legislative reform in 1930 that had changed its periodicity, immediately reported every ten years as it is still in force. At the last Census in 2011, carried out in innovative ways, the population of our country exceeds 60 million.
