The excavation brought to light the remains of two buildings, probably erected during the 12nd century, separated by an alley. One (sector 100) intended, from the twelfth to the beginning of the fourteenth century, for processing first only steel, then more generally metallurgical, the other (sector 700) for housing purposes. The buildings collapsed during the first half of the XV and later disposed of the masonry parts at two different times (third quarter of the fifteenth century for the north building, third quarter of the sixteenth century for the southern building), leave space first to an abandoned area, then, with the construction of the church of S. Stefano dei Cavalieri (1565-7), to an open area.
