Dataset description

Location of the Benedictine monasteries and abbeys of Umbria on a regional technical map on a scale of 1:5,000 or 1:10.000. The census was carried out on the basis of a Memorandum of Understanding drawn up in 2013 between the Umbria Region and the Italian Benedictine Historical Centre. This census implements, above all from a historical point of view, the first census of the abbeys and the main Benedictine sites, drawn up in 1997, when the Umbria Region in agreement with the then Superintendence for the A.A.A.S. Heritage, carried out a systematic census to safeguard the identity heritage founding the archetypal roots of the Umbrian landscape.
