The geoarchaeological map of Bologna has been drawn up with the aim of sharing the knowledge acquired in years of studies on the subsoil of Bologna that preserves important testimonies of the different stages of development of the city in history. Composed of maps and images relating to the Roman and post-Roman periods affecting the urban area of Bologna, the map is the result of the collaboration between the Sismic Geological Service and the Soils of the Emilia-Romagna Region, Superintendence for Archaeological Heritage of Emilia-Romagna and Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna. On the front, two maps and a section illustrate the morphological trend of the Roman plane and the thickness of the sediments that cover it. On the back, we dwell on concepts such as the soil, the depositional environments of the past and the distribution of sediments that separate the Roman plane from the present one.
