The Interactive Geolithological Charter of the Ornamental Stones of Piedmont was created by CNR IGG (Institute of Geosciences and Georesources, headquartered in Turin), ARPA Piemonte and Department of Earth Sciences of the University of Turin. The management, updating of data and maintenance of the service is by ARPA Piemonte (responsible for web service) and CNR IGG (responsible for the development of the database). The first version of the Geolithological Paper of the Ornamental Stones of Piedmont at scale 1:250,000 was published in 2020, in pdf format downloadable vector, in the Journal of Maps (Taylor and Francis) with a synthetic illustrative note (https://doi.org/10.1080/17445647.2020.1837685)The Data Base consists of a digital cartography with its database organised according to logical and semantic models and compiled with reference to international descriptive standards for geosciences (INSPIRE — Data Specification on Geology, IUGS CGI — GeoSciML Vocabulary). The Interactive Geolithological Charter of the Ornamental Stones of Piedmont is an example of the thematic development of the GeoPiemonteMap Project useful for scientific dissemination and for public administrations and geo-engineering professional communities; feed-backs are expected from users in order to improve the quality of the product and increase the Data Base. The set-up presented is a different theme of the data base of the GeoPiemonte Map project to which reference is made for the data download. The research is part of the Project: ‘Geo-lithological paper of the ornamental stones of Piedmont: online dissemination of a scientific, economic and cultural heritage" funded by Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Torino (CRT).
