Coastal Physiographic Units — Dataset

Subdivision of the Italian coastline into morphological physiographic units, i.e. in stretches of coastline with homogeneous characteristics in which sedimentary movements are considered to be confined and no exchange between contiguous units.The delimitation was carried out on the shoreline detected by the mosaic of the IGM 1:25,000 tables by examining the main characteristics of the surrounding areas and all the factors contributing to regulating the balance of a stretch of coast, such as the morphological conformation that emerged and submerged, the regime of solid inputs of the main watercourses, the orientation of the shoreline and the presence of promontories or ports in solid sea that hinder the transport.
