The Corine Land Cover (CLC) is an integral project of the CORINE Programme. The objective of the CLC is to provide information on land cover and changes over time. The information is comparable and homogeneous for all countries participating in the project (currently 31 countries including some of North Africa). The photo-interpretation from satellite images (Landsat 5 and 7) made the cost of the project sustainable. The geographical information system consists of 44 classes of land cover divided into 3 three levels (5 classes for the first level, 15 for the second level and 44 for the third). The first realisation was carried out since the 1980s and led to the realisation of the CLC 90.
