Artificial watercourse, or made with the insertion of an artifact in natural or artificial materials, built for the purpose of supply, irrigation, navigation, reclamation, etc. The path of each instance of this class is obtained by aggregating in an orderly manner, according to the direction of water flow if constant or according to a conventional homogeneous direction, water elements representing the path; in certain cases, where the identification of the channel corresponds not so much to the identification of the infrastructure as to the name of the waters following a certain path according to the appropriate means of adjustment at the catching points, the same water element may belong to several channels. A channel can be characterised by its own wet areas, if detectable. Channels derived from or delivered to natural water bodies shall be appropriately connected to the natural hydrographic grid.
