District assistance: Child maternal advisory assistance

At provincial level, health care assistants working in paediatric counsellors provided a total of 230,488 services during 2015 (more than 50 % in the Merano area alone). The activity carried out by this figure in paediatric consultors consists mainly of the measurement of vital parameters and/or assessment of the status of one or more organs-systems of the newborn and early childhood (20.5 %), advice to the mother-child unit (19.6 %), the education of the person and/or the family for the purposes of prevention, sanitation and participation in the intervention programme (17.2 %) and the NAS service (8.1 %). There are 7 health districts that record the presence of the pediatrician in maternal-infant consultors. In 2015, around 3,700 paediatric services were recorded at provincial paediatric consultors. At provincial level, the midwives operating in the obstetric and gynaecological consultors provided a total of 24,356 services during 2015. The activity carried out by this figure in the provincial obstetric and gynaecological consultors consists mainly of advice to the mother-child unit (21.7 %), the visit of the midwife (13.6 %) and the measurement of vital parameters and/or assessment of the status of one or more organs-systems (11.2 %). In 2015, around 13,000 benefits were provided by gynecologists at provincial consultors. In health districts where gynecologists, paediatricians and midwives do not operate, the citizen can contact their hospitals.
