The data relate to the delimitations at various levels of detail and in some cases for different areas (hill-mountain, plain) of areas characterised by the same watershed and of unions of these areas. Within the plains, the delimitation of river basins is often conventional, as it is not possible to identify a watershed. Lowland areas between two waterways are available for this area. The series consists of two sets of geometrically and topologically coherent datasets: Po basin, main basins and sub-basins; mountain basins, plain areas. The data on the delimitation of the Po basin were defined by the Presidential Decree of 1 June 1998 ‘Approval of the perimeter of the river Po’. The other datasets have been defined as part of the process of drafting the River Fasce Stralcio Plan (1997) and subsequently revised for the Po River River Hydrographic District Management Plan (geographical part in 2010) and for the preparation of the Flood Management Plan (descriptive part, in 2014).
