Delimitation of groundwater bodies identified by the Regions Valle d’Aosta, Piedmont, Liguria, Lombardy, Emilia Romagna, and Autonomous Province of Trento.
They have been detected both in the lowland area and in the hilly-mountain area of the district. The plain system is multi-aquifer, the surface circulation system and the deep one are separated by continuous impermeable surfaces on a regional scale.
They are characterised in terms of: Region/Province to which it belongs, unique identification code at EU level, name, relative depth in relation to topographical area, circulation system, area.
Valle d’Aosta Region has identified water bodies in the valley floor floods.
Regione Piemonte has identified 2 levels of water bodies in the plain area, and both fractured and karst water bodies in hilly-mountain areas.
Liguria Region has identified water bodies in the valley floor floods and some karst-type water bodies in hilly-mountain areas.
Regione Lombardia has identified 3 levels of water bodies in the plain area (surface water infrastructure, intermediate water infrastructure, deep water infrastructure) and water bodies from the valley floor.
The Emilia-Romagna Region has identified 3 levels of water bodies in the lowland area (freatic/free, upper confined, lower confined) and fractured or valley floor water bodies in hilly-mountain areas. Some water bodies are present on several levels (e.g.: water bodies of the conoids).
The Autonomous Province of Trento has identified karst and fractured water bodies of the valley floor, all in the hill-mountain area.
The marginal portions of underground water bodies of the Veneto Region falling within the Po River district are the responsibility of the District Authority of the Eastern Alps, due to an institutional agreement between the two district authorities and the regions concerned.
The unique identification code for each water body is contained in the field “thematicid”.
