The__[Climate Observatory](https://www.arpae.it/clima)__ produces a daily climate dataset of precipitation and temperatures (minimum and maximum) covering the entire regional territory from 1961 to the present. The data is obtained by spatial interpolation on a regular grid from the values detected by the network of historical weather stations.
Only data from the time series that have passed rigorous quality controls contribute to the analysis. In particular, statistical homogeneity, synchronism between measurements, and spatial coherence were verified.
This dataset has been the source of information for the Climate Atlas of Emilia-Romagna.
A detailed description of the information sources and methods used to produce the analysis was published in the following scientific article:
_G. Antolini, L. Auteri, V. Pavan, F. Tomei, R. Tomozeiu, V. Marletto, 2015. A daily high-resolution gridded climatic data set for Emilia-Romagna, Italy, during 1961-2010. International Journal of Climatology 08/2015; Doi:10.1002/joc.4473_
During 2019 the latest version (4.2) was released, which includes new additional time series, new methods of data spatialisation, so as to allow the use in input of more data, without affecting the local time homogeneity of the analysis. The available period is currently 1961-2020.
