The exploitation of hydrocarbon resources stored in the marine background requires the installation of platforms for the extraction of hydrocarbons from the marine background. In the marine area of reference there are as many as 62 active platforms, of which 57 are productive, 4 production support and 1 not yet operational because they are awaiting the granting of the cultivation concession. The platforms can be simple monotubular structures (connected directly to a single productive well) and often connected to others of the same type to form a single structure (clusters), or larger platforms (structures with 4, 6, 8 and 12 legs) sometimes also connected to each other, to which several productive wells are connected and with permanent staff on board. All these platforms are connected to each other, so that the extracted gas is conveyed to the collection plants, by a dense network of underwater pipelines (sealines).
