Fauna — Species list

List of species present in Umbria belonging to the classes Amphibians, Reptiles, Mammals and Birds. Article 9 of Law No 14/1994 concerning hunting in Umbria, entitled ‘Observatory of habitats and wildlife populations’, provides: in order to ensure the monitoring of the consistency and dynamics of wildlife populations and the determination of species presence indices, the Regional Council is authorised to establish, within the functional area of competence, the Observatory of Natural Habitats and Wildlife Populations. The Servizo Foreste, mountain, naturalistic and wildlife systems carries out the activities of the Observatory of Natural Habitats and Wildlife Populations (Regional Wildlife Observatory), as provided for in a memorandum of understanding between the Region and the provinces of Perugia and Terni.
