Fire Risk — 200MT interface perimeter band

By Council Decision No 20 of 26 June 2017, the Inter-municipal Plan for Civil Protection of the municipalities of Valle Savio was approved.The “urban-rural” interface defines those areas, areas or bands, in which the interconnection between human structures and natural areas is very narrow; these are those geographical places where the urban system and the rural one meets and interacts, so as to be considered at risk of an interface fire, being able to quickly come into contact with the possible propagation of a fire originating from vegetation fuel. Such a fire may originate either in the vicinity of the settlement or as a fire itself. on the basis of the regional technical map, the anthropised areas considered internal to the interface perimeter were identified. For the perimeter of these areas, aggregations have been created (buffers) aimed at reducing the discontinuities between the elements present. Subsequently, a perimeter band with a width of 200 metres was drawn around these perimeter areas (populated centres). This band was then used for the hazard assessment using the fire suscetivity chart defined according to the pyrological potential on vegetation species.
