Forestation — Direct protection forests — Elements to be protected

In the mountains forests perform multiple functions, among which there is an important protective function. Different ways of protection can be identified:- the function of indirect or generic protection, is that the forest performs against soil conservation from diffuse or channeled erosion;- a function of direct protection, is the function that the forest performs in defense of settlements, human activities or communication routes against natural hazards: avalanches, boulders fall, superficial slips and torrential lavas.
